Sophia's Hope Ranch
Each year, over 60,000 adoptions tragically fail, leaving children to re-enter the system. Many hopeful families begin the journey with love and good intentions but are unprepared for the intense emotions and behaviors rooted in attachment disruption.
Every adoption, no matter how it begins, starts with a sense of loss. This grief can manifest in a child as difficulty forming emotional bonds, defiance, aggression, withdrawal, or control struggles. Attachment disruption impacts not only a child’s emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and social development, but the entire family’s well-being.
That’s why, at Sophia’s Hope Ranch, we believe the family - not just the child - is our client.

My Story
Welcome to Sophia’s Hope Ranch—a place born from my personal journey as a Christ-follower, mother, and clinical therapist dedicated to healing children and families impacted by trauma and attachment disruption. I’m Theresa Schultz, and over the past two decades, I’ve served on boards, fostered over a dozen children, and spent 12 years as a CASA, all while specializing in trauma and attachment therapy.
The Ranch was inspired by my daughter’s early struggles with Reactive Attachment Disorder. Navigating that pain and the lack of support systems lit a fire in me to ensure no other family feels alone in that journey. What began as heartbreak has become a mission rooted in faith, compassion, and the belief that God can transform pain into purpose.
Sophia’s Hope Ranch is now a sanctuary for families seeking healing, connection, and renewal. We invite you to join us in offering hope, strength, and the support every child and family deserves.
